Banned Laws In Qatar For World Cup

Incredible rules of Qatar For World Cup that you will be surprised to hear. Do these restrictions in the Qatar World Cup 2022 deter you from traveling?

We’re now counting down to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Since this will be the first time the competition will be held in the Middle East, we expect that a lot will be different about this particular tournament.

For starters, it’ll be happening in November-December for the first time ever because of how hot it gets in the Middle East in the summer.

Apparently, it still gets hot towards the end of the year, not as hot as the summer, but still hot, and that’s why the stadiums in Qatar are fitted with focused cooling air-conditioning systems.

6 Things That Are Banned For Fans In Qatar For World Cup

There are a few other things which will be unique in Qatar, but now, we want to focus on the things which have been banned over there. Here are 6 things which are banned for fans at the World Cup in Qatar.

1. Homosexuality

Homosexuality in Qatar For World Cup

In Qatar For World Cup, homosexuality is criminalized, and it has been announced that any same-sex couple caught displaying affections could be prosecuted. Because of this, England’s national team captain, Harry Kane, declared he’ll be wearing a rainbow armband during the tournament to show support for the LGBTQ+ community.

The Qatari officials have warned Kane not to do that, but the Spurs man seems resolute. We’ll just have to wait and see how that pans out.

2. Dating

Now, here’s the thing. Even straight couples are not totally safe. Straight unmarried couples who are caught displaying affections could also be prosecuted, as sexual activities outside marriage are considered a crime in Qatar For World Cup.

So, if you’re out there with your boyfriend or girlfriend, don’t get tempted to place a kiss on their lips after your country scores a dying minute winner. It could land you in jail.

Apparently, even attempting to shake hands with the Qatari women could land you in trouble. Oh wow!

3. Indecent dressing in Qatar

While at the World Cup, fans will be required to cover up completely or risk being denied access into certain facilities.

Short skirts are discouraged. Clothes which reveal the shoulders are discouraged. And of course, being shirtless, as most football fans love to be, will be discouraged.

Basically, if you dress in a way that does not meet the modesty standards of the Qatar For World Cup Tourism Authority, you will be denied access into the stadiums as well as other government facilities.

4. Drugs In Qatar For World Cup

Drugs In Qatar For World Cup

Illegal drugs are frowned upon in Qatar For World Cup.  If you’re caught with such drugs – whether it’s just weed or it’s as heavy as meth or cocaine – you could face serious punishment.

In Qatar For World Cup, you could get a death penalty for being found with drugs. But while it’s unlikely for them to actually issue the death penalty to fans with small amounts of illegal drugs, other heavy punishments like jailtime, deportation, fine, a ban from visiting the country, could very well be meted out.

5. Medication

Now, of course you can understand illegal drugs being frowned upon, but guess what!

Even some legal prescription medications are banned in Qatar For World Cup. For example, antidepressants like Valium or Xanax, can incur penalties as heavy as the outright illegal substances.

So, if you’re traveling with prescription medicine, you’d need to go with a very detailed doctor’s report spelling out why you need that medication. And mind you, the doctor’s report will have to be no more than 6 months old.

You think that’s bad? Just wait a minute. It gets worse.

6. Photography

Oh yes, you could get in trouble for taking random photos and videos in Qatar.

Of course, we don’t think taking selfies will get you in that much trouble. This is particularly for journalists and content creators.

They will not have that freedom to take those photos anywhere, conduct random interviews, or just create any type of content they want while they’re in the country.

In fact, the moment you start bringing out photography equipment like a tripod or a mic, you may be shut down so quickly.

To be able to do all these without disturbance, you’d need to have a specific visa and permission.

Wow! If FIFA goes on to record the lowest number of fans traveling for a World Cup, you’d know exactly why. These are way too many restrictions for fans that just

want to go and enjoy the biggest football festival in the world.

Or what do you think? Are they too many or are they just okay? Share your opinions with us in the comments and make sure to give us your reasons, too. We’ll be following the conversation there.
